Visions and Vocations is a collection of theological essays and personal reflections by members of
Catholic Women Speak and Voices of Faith, published by Paulist Press in advance of the October 2018 Synod of Bishops on Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment. The aim of the collection is to celebrate the rich diversity of Catholic women’s perspectives from around the world, as they reflect on some of the most vital issues of our time in the context of women’s vocations and visions. There are more than 60 contributors from 20 different countries, aged from 14 - 85 years. The essays and articles are short and accessible to a non-academic readership and the book is being launched with a symposium and reception at the Pontifical University Antonianum on 1st October, 2018 (click for more information).

ABOUT THE AUTHORS - The Catholic Women Speak Network (CWSN) is an online forum for theological dialogue and collaboration around issues relating to Catholic women’s roles, responsibilities and relationships in the Church and society. It is administered by the Digby Stuart Research Centre for Religion, Society and Human Flourishing at the University of Roehampton in London.

"This is the second collection of women’s writings published by Catholic Women Speak to coincide with a Synod of Bishops. Our first book, Catholic Women Speak: Bringing Our Gifts to the Table, was distributed by the Vatican publishers Libreria Editrice Vaticana in the Synod Hall during the October 2015 Synod on the Family, and we remain deeply grateful for their assistance. More than 300 copies of the book were given away, but not a single Synod participant ever acknowledged that he had received it, let alone read it and learned from it. Nevertheless, we persist, because we believe that ultimately the Church’s survival depends upon women – not only as bearers of children for the Church of the future (a role that is more than adequately recognized already), but as bearers of visions and vocations that have yet to find space to flourish and grow in the sacramental, ethical and social expressions of our Catholic faith." (excerpt from the introduction by the editor, Tina Beattie)
