and
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
the old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Inside is our "Waters of Life" story:
GENESIS
God’s spirit breathed
into the waters of creation.
The waters separated
into the rivers and streams of new life
and the seas and oceans of darkness.
GOSPEL
Jesus offered to the Samaritan woman
a living spring, the water of eternal life,
and to the people in the Temple
fountains of living water,
fulfilling John the Baptist’s promise
of new baptism by water and the Holy Spirit from the one who was to come.
SACRAMENT
From Jesus’ pierced side at the crucifixion flowed the water of Baptism
(and the blood of the Eucharist).
Baptism became the sacrament
of new life and cleansing water.
Along with the greeting:
Congratulations on this special occasion

- More information
- BAPTISM (Christening) is initiation into the Christian community - the life of Christ symbolised through the gift of water, the supreme sign of life. THE SACRAMENTS The Christian journey is marked by special moments of God’s blessing called Sacraments. There are seven: Baptism (Christening), Confirmation (or Chrismation), the Eucharist (Holy Communion), Penance (Confession/Reconciliation), the Anointing of the Sick (formerly termed Last Rites), Holy Orders (Priesthood and Religious life) and Matrimony (Marriage) - linking the stages of human life with the stages of the spiritual life.
