- WATERMEAD STORY Children have always been involved in our apostolate and are represented in many of the items produced. From as young as four or five years of age they have sang on our recordings and submitted prayers and poems - their participation always encouraged. Most of the children were introduced to the work of the apostolate through attending parish children’s liturgy, and at St Theresa’s, the birth parish of Watermead, a thriving band of over thirty children led the music and prayer at mass once a month for over 20 years – resulting in many hymns and songs being written especially for them, some of which they sang on our recording 'A Little Child Shall Lead'. When Watermead moved to St. Joseph’s the first publishing project undertaken was designing a prayer card for the newly-formed Children’s Liturgy. The design of the card was inspired by a verse given us by Gill that she had used, through her experience in school, of teaching little children to make the Sing of the Cross - ‘From my head to my heart, from shoulder to shoulder, I belong to God’. It then followed that we included the wording of two of our children's hymns as prayers.
