WATERMEAD STORY After months of happy and excited preparation the family's fifth child was stillborn and, as they prepared for a quiet and private family burial, words of comfort were difficult to find. What could possibly be said at this time to the loss and grief of a child there would not have chance to nurture, a sibling whom none would get chance to know? Then the words of St John Chrysostom "Those whom we love and lose are no longer where they were before, they are now with us wherever we go" were found and a very simple bereavement card was produced with this wording on the front and a simple "Thinking of you in Prayer" message inside. People had frequently asked us “Can we have a card that is not a mass card, but says we are thinking of someone in prayer?” and the simple design used for our family's bereavement card then became the inspiration for this Thought of You series. We produced a selection of 22 greetings appropriate for most occasions, with each greeting accompanied by a short quotation from bible scripture. The variety is wide – letting people know a candle has been lit for them; someone has prayed for them at Communion time; telling them how much they are valued; even wishing them a “Happy Un-birthday”. . . Although all wordings in the series have been popular, requiring us to keep reprinting large stocks of all designs over the years, but we have found that it has been the first inspiration ("Those whom we love and lose . . .") that has always been the most popular. Immediately the cards were produced several hundred of this particular design were ordered for a bereavement group in Wales.
